Girish Deodhare, Director, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) speaking to the Indian media has said that certain parts that will be required for the first AMCA prototype has entered production, and first AMCA rollout will happen in 2024 with first flight scheduled for 2025.  Since stealth will be a major characteristic of the aircraft, it has been designed to match or supersede many of the current 5th generation aircraft while providing optimal balance between aircraft availability and stealth aspect. Deodhare said that ADA knows that many of the 5th generation aircraft have huge downtime due to extensive repair work that is needed to maintain the stealth characteristic of the aircraft. AMCA will come with a Vehicle health monitoring system (VHMS) hat will help reduce downtime and will have a higher operational availability rate for which ADA has conducted special studies. ADA has developed a special coating for the Glass cockpit section to reduce its radar reflection an

The government of Brazil has expressed interest in the BrahMos-NG (New Generation) from India, which is a shorter and lighter version of the framed Indo-Russian ramjet supersonic cruise missile currently under development and to be tested by 2024. BrahMos-NG has been found a suitable choice for Brazil’s Gripen-E fighter jet supplied by SAAB Company and also for its nuclear-powered general-purpose attack submarine or SSN to be equipped with cruise missile systems which Brazil is building with France. BrahMos-NG weighs 1.5 tones and has a length of 6 meters which can be equipped on almost all the fighter jets which the Indian Air force Operates including smaller jets like Tejas Mk1A. BrahMos-NG has the same Supersonic Mach 3 speed and range of 290km as its predecessor but with half its weight that has seen a growing interest for this missile from countries in South America including Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Venezuela. BrahMos Chief Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra has confirmed t

Indian Navy inducts two American MQ-9  Predator drones on lease, can be deployed on LAC with China. "The drones arrived in India in the second week of November and were inducted into flying operations on November 21 at Indian Navy base at INS Rajali".  The drones have already started flying operations and with an endurance capability of being in the air for over 30 hours, they are proving to be a big asset for the maritime force, sources said.   The American-origin drones have been inducted by the Navy under the emergency procurement powers granted by the Defense Ministry in view of the India-China border conflict. The drones are flying in Indian colors and would be on lease with India for one year even as the three services are preparing the case for acquiring 18 more such drones from the US.  An American crew from the vendor is also accompanying the equipment and would support the Navy in operating the machines.

Two “green” helicopters were handed over to RWRDC by HAL’s Helicopter Division in June 2018 for system integration. The contract for 32 coastal security ALH was inked in March 2017 with ICG as the lead service. The IN order for 16 — to supplement its ageing and depleting fleet of Alouettes (Chetaks) — was dovetailed into this program based on the overarching responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government of India in the wake of 26/11 (2008) terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
